Monday, April 12, 2004--Governor Jim Douglas and former Governor Tom Salmon helped the Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) celebrate 30 years of support for affordable housing in Vermont.

Governor Douglas issued a proclamation congratulating VHFA on its work on behalf of affordable housing for the past 30 years. Governor Salmon, who signed the legislation that created Vermont Housing Finance Agency on April 11, 1974, noted how important the issue of affordable housing was in the mid-seventies and continues to be today.

"It's a real pleasure to be here today to celebrate VHFA's 30th anniversary," Governor Douglas said. "I want to personally thank Governor Salmon for signing the legislation creating VHFA in 1974, because, two years later, Dorothy and I bought a home with a VHFA loan. We still own that home today."
