Description: The Board is given the responsibility of protecting public health, safety and welfare by assuring that qualified applicants are licensed to practice this profession. The Board implements the statutes and administrative rules of the profession. The Board works under the administrative umbrella and receives staff and legal assistance from the Office of Professional Regulation, a division of the Vermont Secretary of State ’s office.
Individual board members advise investigators when unprofessional conduct complaints are received. The Board holds hearings and decides cases when unprofessional conduct charges have been filed. It determines what sanctions are required when violations of the statutes or rules have been proved. The board periodically reviews and suggests updates to its statutes. It is also responsible for drafting and amending its administrative rules. The Board also provides information about the licensure process and its activities to the public.
